Cornerstone is one of the longest-running, most comprehensive, and effective addiction treatment centers in Southern California. If you are looking for a facility that provides detoxification, primary residential care, extended care, day treatment, day or evening outpatient programs, or licensed recovery homes, Cornerstone can help.

Cornerstone prides itself on its sense of community. Community starts with family, and having the support of family is so important on a journey of recovery. We understand that familial relationships are often strained when someone gets into recovery, which is why, as a family-run treatment center, we have opened the doors to our family at Cornerstone, and each and every person within our walls become a part of our family. Together we have built a strong and robust family network of support for our clients. Every person whether they are in detox, primary rehabilitation, our extended care program, outpatient treatment, our alternative sentencing program, or our recovery homes and the sober living program becomes a part of this family-run community.

Our Founder and Medical Director, Michael Stone, MD, and our dedicated and caring staff have been helping addicts and their families since 1969. As such, we have extensive experience in treating a plethora of addictive disorders, including – but not limited to, alcohol, narcotics (Vicodin, Oxycontin, Norco, Fentanyl, Methadone, Heroin, Suboxone), sedative-hypnotics (Xanax, Valium, Librium, Ambien, Sonata, Lunesta, Ativan, Serax), methamphetamines and amphetamines (Adderall and Ritalin) cocaine, marijuana, inhalants, mushrooms, PCP and designer drugs (Ecstasy, GHB, and Ketamine). We are now also able to offer Vivitrol injections for opiate detox and opiate treatment.

We are nationally accredited by the Joint Commission; licensed and certified by the State of California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and recognized by the local Courts and Orange County Probation. We have contracts with all major commercial insurance plans including Tricare and work well with many known, large employers locally and nationwide.

One of our main missions is to provide the best treatment to as many people as need be. We understand that in order to do this, we need to be affordable without compromising the quality of the care we offer. We have worked tirelessly to create a treatment model that allows us to do this. We have succeeded by recognizing that just as each individual who seeks treatment with us is unique in their own way, so is the way their disease will have manifested. Therefore we have created treatment plans that incorporate many different levels of care. In this way, we treat each individual specifically for the requirements they present with. There is no one size fits all approach, as this would add extra cost for individuals who don’t require one aspect of the program, but need other elements of it.

Our approach is completely flexible. If a client in a lower level of care is having a difficult time, instead of having to ask them to leave, we are easily able to move them up to a higher level of care without disrupting their experience with us. This ability is unlike many other treatment centers who generally need to move a client away from the newfound security they have discovered, if they are unable to manage with the level of care offered. We realized that when dealing with sufferers of substance abuse disorders, we would often be dealing with traumatized individuals. One of the most vital elements for stabilizing a trauma survivor is being able to make them feel safe. By ensuring that anyone who enters our programs will be able to remain, whatever issue they present with, in one continuous program surrounded by staff they know and trust, as well as peers that they have come to call friends, means we can guarantee a sense of security for everyone who walks through our doors.

Not only do we offer the most cutting edge therapeutic modalities such as DBT, CBT, EMDR, 1-29, 2-1 therapy, group therapy, Internal Family Systems therapy, Somatic therapy, Motivational Interviewing, along with many more empirically tested forms of therapy, we also strongly believe in a holistic approach to healing.

Substance abuse doesn’t only impact the mind, but it breaks the body and the spirit in equal measure. Consequently in order to fully heal, we need to focus on all three. Therefore we offer art, music and other creative therapies as well as mindfulness, meditation and yoga. We incorporate exercise into our programs and educate our clients on the importance of good nutrition. Routine is also heavily emphasized here at Cornerstone.

A way to make a young child feel safe, is by giving them boundaries and a daily routine. As wounded adults, we also need to give our inner children this sense of safety through routine, therefore all of our clients get up and go to bed on schedule, make their beds, help with meal preparation and participate in social interactions with other house members.

Our Mission

Our mission is to continue to provide the most comprehensive, extensive, affordable and ethically sound treatment program in Southern California. We continuously strive to provide all of our clients with a solid foundation of recovery focused on community, family and relapse prevention. We are committed to excellence in the delivery of care and services to our customers.

21st Century Vision

At Cornerstone we understand that the fields of addiction and mental health treatment are constantly developing and progressing. We aim to continuously inform ourselves of, and implement, the most innovative cutting edge research around treatment of addiction and behavioral disorders. We regularly train our staff and ensure that we attend conferences and events that keep us current and up-to-date with all the latest changes in the field. We believe ourselves to be forward thinkers and open-minded as far as addiction treatment goes. We understand that its not one size that fits all. Just as each individual that comes for treatment with us is unique, so is the way their disease will have manifested. For that reason, we aim to provide as many empirically therapeutic tools and methods as are available, in order to give our clients the best chance of finding the path to sustained recovery that works for them.
