Detoxification of people displaying mild withdrawal symptoms from alcohol or drugs like cocaine, marijuana, opioids, or methamphetamine, is a process that does not generally need to be done in a hospital setting. However, these clients may need a referral for an outside medical assessment, medical evaluation and medications to assist with the discomfort of withdrawal and the associated symptoms. It is essential that a person seeking to 'detox' from alcohol and/or drugs be evaluated by an independent or personal physician trained in Addiction Medicine.

Dr. Stone has treated over 60,000 addicts since he began this work in 1969. He understands addiction and how to treat it! In addition to his ongoing clinical direction at Cornerstone, Dr. Stone continues his addiction medicine and pain management practice in Santa Ana, California, where he and his local network of colleagues are available to help you. Our special team of independent doctors can assist with the many issues that are unique to each individual. If you require a referral, you can trust the team of addiction specialists that we know and trust. In the Staff and Independent Physicians section of this web site you can read about Dr. Stone and some of the local independent specialists that we work with.
